New hobby. End of the year

So it’s been like just under a year since I have properly started sewing and making my own clothes.

I have learn a lot. Not only to really follow a pattern and but also about my sewing machine and it’s temperament, she is a  little difficult when it comes to gathering.

I am looking to learn and make more. More insta challenges too! There is one about trousers in the month of January. I have an idea but I think I might have to toile it 1st!

And I need to finish all my cut out projects!

But I want to show you my favourite makes… well actually they were all successful and I wore everything and multiple times but I really love my yellow Sophiya trousers, indigo top and the sun hat.

I never thought I was a jazzy trousers person but I am and I wear and wear and wear them! Well not now in a winter.

Such a unusual make. Ans super satisfying too. I think I could’ve have gone a size smaller but it works well. And definitely a statement!

Now this, the indigo tunic/dress into a top out of a yard of African wax. It was challenging and a little like a crazy assembly, facings are offcuts of other wax prints, flounce is from pieces too…. But I made me think outside the box and problem solve.

Honorable mention should also come to shorts I made for my boys and big boys pair was even with some piping!

So here is to more males in 2023 and my new overlocker Elna!

December makes and new toy

December been and gone and what a busy month is had been.

I didn’t make my festive outfit. I am a little sad, but I had this lurgy that you cough and cough and nothing happens. GP said it’s viral so no tasty antibiotics for me…. Anyway. I did mend husbands shorts and a pocket on his waterproof coat.

And then I got my big boy involved in some sewing

We made teachers gifts, little hand warmers, from some fat quarters form hobby craft that I had in my stash. Big boy did some careful cutting with my fabric scissors, then he was put in charge of the pedals and listened well to go and stop commands from me. It’s a big deal for my kid as he is non verbal autistic and some simple things aren’t simple at all. Super proud of him. He was also every good and taking pins out and putting them back into the pin cushions and cut off the thread with small scissors.

I did finished them up by myself. Has to resolve to come hacks for bulky seams.
There are bunch of tutorials on YouTube for these by the way.

It is also my birthday month! And I was very lucky to get an overlocker, Elna 664. She is great but I didn’t really have much time to play with it just yet! Looking forward for lost of speedy knit makes!

But I did some sewing or needle related craft, that’s a thing right!

I got this stunning hand made cardigan from charity shop but then buttons were awful, I change them to a nice natural looking ones. And

I have finished a little cross stitch from lovely innocent bones box which I had in my stash like for over a year. I found this very relaxing and a nice way to spend an evening. Very good for my busy mind.

Quick jean mend

I don’t like shopping for jeans. And I have to wear them for my work (when I m waitressing) and not all jeans made the same and of course th...
